Allergan™ announced a voluntary recall of all BIOCELL® textured breast implants on July 24, 2019.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has long studied the connection between textured breast implants and the development of breast-implant-associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), a rare cancer that affects the lymphatic system.

“Of the 43 patient deaths the FDA is reporting today, 13 of the 14 patients for whom the implant manufacturer is known are confirmed to have had an Allergan™ breast implant at the time of their BIA-ALCL diagnosis,” the report adds.
