Brazilian Butt Lift Post-Operative Patient Instructions

Brazilian Butt Lift Post-operative Patient Instructions

The right aftercare for your Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure is crucial to aid in healing and maximize fat retention. Do not sit directly on your buttocks for the first few weeks unless instructed by your surgeon. When you sit, you can use a BBL pillow to help reduce pressure on the area that was treated. To help protect the fat cells that were recently transferred, try sleeping on your stomach or sides.

During the recovery period, some swelling, bruising and mild discomfort are normal and will gradually improve over time. Call your surgeon right away if you have a lot of pain, swelling that is not normal, a fever or any sign of infection. By following your post-operative instructions closely, you will maximize your recovery, increase the longevity of your results, and achieve a fuller, more sculpted look post-Brazilian Butt Lift.

Brazilian Butt Lift In Dubai

Brazilian Butt Lift in Dubai is a body contouring procedure that involves liposuction to remove excess fat from certain areas of the body, and then transferring that fat to the buttocks for improved volume, shape, and projection. While the procedure can produce very attractive and natural results, the success of fat transfer depends on how closely patients follow their recovery instructions. Generally speaking, patients are advised not to sit on or put direct pressure on the buttocks for long periods for the first few weeks after surgery. This is done as a precaution to protect the fat cells being transferred as they start to create a healthy blood supply. There are special BBL pillows that may be recommended to help relieve pressure when you need to sit. Patients are often advised during the first stages of recovery to sleep on their stomach or side so as not to jeopardize the surgical results. Compression garments are usually worn after surgery to help reduce swelling, improve contouring and support healing in the areas treated by liposuction. Patients should also drink enough fluids, eat a healthy diet and avoid smoking as this can impact the survival of the fat and the overall recovery. Following post-operative instructions and attending follow-up appointments as scheduled helps patients maximize fat retention, improve healing, and enjoy long-lasting Brazilian Butt Lift results that improve body proportions and confidence.

Butt Lift In Dubai

Butt Lift in Dubai is very important to ensure proper healing and to maintain the desired result, whether performed by fat transfer methods such as Brazilian Butt Lift or surgical lifting procedures to correct skin laxity. It is vital that patients understand that the healing process is a team effort between the surgeon and patient and that good aftercare is a large part of long term satisfaction. Mild swelling, bruising and discomfort are expected following surgery and will generally improve gradually over the next few weeks. Patients are generally instructed to wear compression garments to reduce swelling and support the treatment areas. These garments help the body adjust to its new shape and promote smoother healing. You should also keep the surgical site clean and follow all wound care instructions . This can help reduce the risk of infection and support recovery. During the early healing period, patients are often advised to avoid direct weight-bearing on the buttocks and to limit prolonged sitting. Walking and light activity are recommended to encourage circulation, but strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided until the surgeon gives the okay. A healthy diet and regular exercise after recovery will help to maintain the results for years to come. With proper post-operative care, and the guidance of an experienced surgeon, patients who undergo a butt lift in Dubai can achieve better contours, improved proportions and a greater sense of confidence in their appearance.

Nutrition After BBL Surgery

  • Hydration: Drink 7-9 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. Do not drink alcohol for 2 days and while you are still taking pain medication.

Medications After BBL Surgery

  • Pain: You will be given pain medication to control your pain after the operation. If you are not in severe discomfort after the surgery you are welcome to take Tylenol instead of the prescribed medication. Many times the pain medication you are prescribed will have Tylenol in it. Do not take Tylenol with the pain medication. Do not take more than 5,000 mg of Tylenol in 1 day. Take with food to lessen the chance of nausea.
  • Nausea: It is a common side effect after general anesthesia and heavy medications. If you are feeling nauseous we suggest you take your nausea medication.
  • Constipation: You will get constipation if you take narcotic pain relievers. Suggestions are MiraLAX or other over the counter laxatives. Don’t wait till you’re constipated.
  • Medications to Avoid: Only take medications approved or prescribed by your surgeon.

How To Take Care Of Your Incisions After BBL Surgery

  • Incisions: Your incision sites are covered with a waterproof dressing. No dressing changes or incision care needed. After your first post-op visit, the dressing will be removed and taped in place. This brown tape is a special type of tape that helps healing of scars and makes your scar look better. Cover the incision sites with the brown tape until your surgeon tells you to stop.
  • Avoid the Sun: Keep your incision out of direct sunlight completely for the first month after your surgery. But it can take a year for scars to fully heal. Sun exposure to the area during the first year can lead to permanent changes in pigmentation. Always use sunscreen on the scar for adequate protection.

Do Not’s During BBL Recovery

  • DO NOT apply hydrogen peroxide to cuts. Postop dressings to stay on until follow-up
  • DO NOT soak in baths, jacuzzis or hot tubs until all incisions are healed
  • DO NOT take aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen or other blood thinners until your surgeon says it is OK.
  • DO NOT unless your surgeon tells you otherwise, apply heat pads or ice packs to the areas treated.

Activity After BBL Surgery

  • Physical Activity: Normal daily activity can be resumed within a few days of the surgery. No lifting over 6lbs, bending, straining or intense cardio activity for the first 2.5 weeks.
  • Sitting is to be absolutely avoided for a full two weeks after your Brazilian Butt Lift. It is recommended to use an extra cushion when sitting (a soft pillow, doughnut cushion, rolled up blanket under your hips, etc.). This should help to spread out and reduce direct pressure on the grafted site. Avoid sitting for long periods of time.
  • Exercise: After surgery, you can start back on a light exercise program in about 2-4 weeks, but begin slowly and work back up to your previous exercise level. Just know that exercise can temporarily make the swelling worse.
  • Compression Garment: Your Brazilian Butt Lift surgery will require you to wear a compression garment on your buttocks for 1 day for two weeks. The garment should be snug, but not so tight that you can’t breathe or get sores or blisters from the compression. Do not take off your garment except to shower or wash it. This will help to reduce swelling and assist in body contouring. After a few weeks of wearing the garment that we have provided you may be asked to switch to a Spanx type of garment.
  • Driving: Do NOT drive or make important decisions until you have been off pain medication for 1 day. Use your common sense.
  • Massage: For recovery, gently massage the liposuction areas. It will feel weird at first but will improve with distance from surgery. It is also helpful to get a deep tissue massage done. You can do it after your first postop appointment when you are ready.
  • Travel: You will not be permitted to drive an automobile for 2.5 weeks following your operation. If necessary, you may be taken by another person. Airline travel is limited for 2.5 weeks postop. You may notice increased swelling with airline travel. This can occur even 5-7 weeks postop from the pressure changes that take place.
  • Return to work: Most patients need about 2.5 weeks away from work, depending on the responsibilities of their job. Getting back to work, even if it’s part time or on a light schedule, can be helpful as well.
  • Sexual Intercourse: You can have sex again when you feel ready and without restrictions.
  • Showering: You may shower with assistance the day after surgery. Take off your garb and any compression foam. The incisions are covered with a waterproof dressing and need no care. Change your clothes after showering.
  • Hot Tubs/Baths/Swimming Pools: Do not take tub baths or use the Jacuzzi until your incisions are healed and approved by your surgeon, usually around 2.5 weeks. Hot tubs tend to grow more bacteria than regular chlorinated swimming pools, so it’s best to wait one month.

What To Expect After BBL Surgery

  • Drainage: There may be drainage from the incision sites for the first 2 to 3 days. The drainage will be bloody. In this case, you may need to reinforce post-op dressings with gauze or a light pad.
  • Discomfort: Expect pain, stiffness, soreness in the buttocks and areas of fat harvest as the body heals.
  • Bruising: You should expect bruising. Bruising can be quite extensive depending on the amount of liposuction and fat transfer that is done. Most bruises will heal in about 2-2.5 weeks. The bruise will start to heal and the color change will be from purple to yellow/green.
  • Results: It is important to keep in mind that only a percentage of the fat cells transferred to the area survive and become permanent. You will see more of a final result in 2-5 months.
  • Swelling: Swelling is expected for weeks and sometimes months. Intermittent rest and compression garments may help with swelling. Swelling may transiently worsen with exercise and physical activity but is encouraged.
  • Asymmetries: Different areas of the body may heal at different rates. This means bruising, swelling and discomfort may not be uniform, and may be greater in some areas. These asymmetries will resolve as the body heals.
  • Itching: Itching around the incision sites is normal for several days. You can take Benadryl to help with this
  • Sensory Changes in Skin: You may feel numbness or tingling around your incision sites and throughout the affected areas, which is normal. You should have normal feeling back in a few months.
  • Scarring: A scar can take up to a year to heal completely. Tape is used for scar management, although topical silicone gel can be used if preferred.
